Super Easy Homemade Pizza

Servings 4 (2 slices each)

Ingredients

Pizza Dough

  • 1/2 Cup warm water
  • 1/2 Tbsp dry active yeast
  • 1/2 tsp sugar
  • 1 1/4 Cups all purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 Tbsp olive oil

Sauce

  • 6 small whole tomatoes
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 1 drizzle olive oil
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1/4 tsp mixed herbs

Toppings

  • 3/4 cup shredded mozzarella
  • 1/4 cup shredded cheddar
  • 1 slice of ham

Instructions

Sauce

  • Preheat the oven to 190°C (375°F)
  • Place the whole tomatoes in a pan and drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with salt
  • Place the garlic in tin foil with some olive oil and add it to the pan with the tomatoes
  • Roast the tomatoes and garlic for 20min and then set them aside to let cool a bit
  • (While the tomatoes are in the oven you can get started on the pizza dough)
  • Once the tomatoes are cool enough to handle mash them up with the garlic in a bowl using your hands
  • Add herbs and salt to taste

Pizza Dough

  • Add your sugar and yeast to the warm water and let sit
  • Combine flour and salt in a bowl
  • Add water and yeast mixture and olive oil to dry ingredients, and mix until well combined
  • Turn dough out onto a floured surface and knead for a few minnutes, until the dough becomes smooth
  • Place dough in a lightly oiled bowel and let rise for 30 min or until doubled in size

Assembly

  • Preheat the oven to 210°C (410°F)
  • After letting the dough rise place it on a lightly floured surface and partially roll it out
  • Lightly oil a pizza pan (or any pan) and place the rolled out dough in the center
  • Use your hands to stretch the dough out towards the edges of the pan
  • Use a spoon to spread a thin layer of the sauce onto the dough
  • Layer on ham (and any other toppings) and top with cheese
  • Place pizza in preheated oven and bake for 15 minutes (until cheese starts to brown slightly)
