Things To Do in Banff In Summer
Banff is a small town in the Canadian Rocky Mountains, about an hour and a half west of Calgary, Alberta. When I was growing up we used to only ever go to the mountains for ski trips, so I only ever saw Banff in the winter. It wasn’t until I was older that I actually had a chance to visit in the summer. It is a beautiful place both times of the year but definitely a different experience in the Summer! If you are heading to Banff here are some of the top things to do in Banff in summer. Go for a Hike Since you’re in the mountains, you…

Visiting the Scottish Highlands
I’ve always wanted to visit the Scottish highlands. Seeing the Highland landscapes on tv or in movies makes me go “ah I want to go there someday”! Well now that I’m living so much closer I had to make sure I made it there. So when I had the opportunity to take a three day trip, I couldn’t say no. I was finished classes for the term so I decided it would be my break before getting into studying for my exams. Loch Lomond Our first stop after getting into the highlands was Loch Lomond. Loch Lomond is a beautiful loch (Scottish for lake) located within the Loch Lomond and…

15 Safety Tips for Uni Students
Heading to university is so exciting, especially in a new city. It can also be a little scary to be on your own for the first time. The unfortunate reality of the world is that it’s not always safe. These are my top safety tips for uni students. Most of these apply to anyone but especially young women living on their own. Even if you are attending Uni in your hometown and living at home, a lot of these tips are still important particularly if you are staying on campus late. The 9 Best Things To Do in Edinburgh
A trip to Scotland is not complete without a stop in the capital so I’ve put together the best things to do in Edinburgh! Best of all most of these are either free to do or cost very little. #1. Hike Arthurs Seat Arthurs Seat is an ancient extinct volcano on the edge of the city of Edinburgh. The name is thought to come from the legends of King Arthur with the site being proposed as the location of his castle in Camelot. It is a pretty easy hike up the hill and once you get to the top there is a beautiful view overlooking the city. #2. The Royal…

Sunrise in Newcastle
I’m still not quite sure what possessed my flatmates to come up with this idea but they decided one day that we should get up and walk to the park to watch the sunrise one morning. I’m even less sure, as someone who is definitely not a morning person, what possessed me to agree to this plan. When we actually got up the morning we decided to do this it was quite windy out and one of my flatmates messaged and suggested we maybe do it another day but I was already up and awake at that point so that was a big no. We did end up leaving the…

Planes, Trains, and Automobiles … and COVID-19
So I am officially living in the UK! As of today I have been in the UK for over three weeks . It was quite the journey for me to get here, nearly 22 hours of traveling from the time I left my house to when I arrived in my dorm! I didn’t realize how completely exhausted I would actually be when I arrived. My travel started with a three hour car ride to the airport (there were no direct flights from home and I was definitely not adding a 10 hr layover to my trip). The car ride was pretty relaxed, both my parents drove me down, so it…

5 Hours in Newcastle Upon Tyne
Newcastle is a relatively small city but absolutely beautiful. It is located in the county of Tyne and Wear in the Northeast of England. The river Tyne Runs through separating Newcastle from the city of Gateshead just across the way. Ok so I know that 5 hours doesn’t sound like a lot of time to tour around a city … and its not lol. However when I was in England for my interview in February I wanted to take some time to visit Newcastle as I already had an offer to study there and I hadn’t even seen the campus in person. Since this trip was in the middle of…
