Button Front Skirt Tutorial
This skirt is the perfect addition to your summer and fall wardrobe. The long flowy skirt brings comfy cottage core vibes, and it is super simple to make. I hope you enjoy this button front skirt tutorial, and make the cottage core skirt you’ve been dreaming of. Materials Design When I decided to make this skirt I had a general idea in my head of what I wanted, but nothing specific. So I scrolled through Pinterest to get some ideas and then starting sketching. Whenever I am drafting something myself I always make sure I draw it out first so that I know exactly what elements I want to include.…

Thrift Flip – How to Turn a Men’s Shirt into a Dress
I’ve been wanting more summer dresses, but since I’m on a student budget I don’t want to go out and drop a bunch of money on new dresses. Instead I’m trying to use fabric I already have or flip some pieces from the thrift store. The first dress I made this year is from a thrifted button down shirt so I thought I’d walk you though how to turn a men’s shirt into a dress. This post is all about how to turn a men’s shirt into a dress. p.s. I’m really bad at taking photos as I work so I’ve included some diagrams to help illustrate everything I did.…

DIY Mini Backpack Tutorial
I’ve been wanting a mini backpack for awhile. They look cute but also are more practical than a little purse, and perfect for day trips. If you’re like me and trying to stick to a budget then a DIY mini backpack is the way to go! I was inspired to make this by WithWendy’s YouTube tutorial which was awesome, you can see her video here. If you find videos helpful to figure out how to sew I definitely suggest having a look! I did make a number of changes to what she did in her tutorial including adding a few extra pockets and some changes to the pattern dimensions. This…

DIY Couch Cover
This is a project I did last summer while I was helping my mom out at our cabin. We had been wanting to do some new window covering for a while and even bought a bunch of fabric for them, but then my mom found some curtain panels she liked on sale somewhere. I got the new curtains hung but I had a bunch of fabric laying around, so I decided to make a slipcover for our couch because it’s old and I think the fabrics ugly 😂. Also I’m going to apologize for the quality of the picture right now lol, I took most of them at night or…

February Plan with Me
In January I didn’t use my bullet journal at all. I kept thinking I should do something but picking out a theme and spending the time drawing just was not a priority while I was getting ready for exams. After exams were over I had a few days before the start of February which would have been the perfect time to get the whole month planned out but at this point all I wanted to do was veg out before the semester started. So I literally didn’t start on this spread until January 31. Because of this I wanted to do something that wasn’t too complicated but still looked nice.…

How to Sew a Single Welt Pocket
The welt pocket is beautiful tailored pocket style that makes a great design feature. Single welt refers to the style of the welt pocket, having a single fold of fabric visible within the pocket opening versus a double welt pocket which has two folds within the stitch line of the pocket. A few years ago I made a corset out of some really gorgeous grey suiting and I wanted to make a nice pair of dress pants to match. Unfortunately I only had a limited amount of the suiting left so I decided to make a mock up of them out of some fabric in my stash. I ended up…

How to Make Your Own Scrunchies
I have been looking for something to do with my scrap material for a while. I always save all my scraps but then I never know what to do with them so I now have a bin full of little bits of fabric. My friend suggested a little while ago that I try making scrunchies. I thought it couldn’t be too hard … and I was right! Turns out making scrunchies is super easy and now I can’t stop lol. Since they are so easy to make I thought I would do a tutorial, and show you how I do it so you can make your own. First things first,…

How to Sew Origami Style Face Masks
Alright so I have been going back and forth about whether or not to make face masks (Everyone’s doing it and there are a million tutorials out there now) but masks recently became mandatory where I live and so it kinda made sense to start making them. That and my mom was wanting a style that was more comfortable to wear. I am also now slightly obsessed with making masks that match my outfit. I ended up settling on this origami/folded 3D style because its comfortable to wear and really efficient in fabric usage. One of the nice things about it is that it sits off of your face a…
