Easy Roasted Butternut Squash and Red Lentil Soup
Soup is one of my favourite meals to make in the fall and winter months. Its always easy to throw together a pot of soup and I like to freeze some to reheat when I can’t be bothered with cooking. This butternut squash and red lentil soup doesn’t require a lot of ingredients, but it makes for a cozy and filling meal. RELATED: Cheddar and Bacon Potato Soup

Tips for Becoming a Morning Person – From a Night Owl
I am the first to admit that I have never been a morning person. I love my sleep, and can easily spend all morning in bed. During my undergraduate degree I would design my schedule so that I didn’t start before 10am (when I did have to take a 9am class I was late like 50% of the time 😬). But with starting medical school and having more 9am classes (that I couldn’t be late for), as well as having to sometimes start at 7:30 moving forward, I knew I had to adjust my sleeping habits. I have now managed to become much more of a morning person than I…

Thrift Flip – How to Turn a Men’s Shirt into a Dress
I’ve been wanting more summer dresses, but since I’m on a student budget I don’t want to go out and drop a bunch of money on new dresses. Instead I’m trying to use fabric I already have or flip some pieces from the thrift store. The first dress I made this year is from a thrifted button down shirt so I thought I’d walk you though how to turn a men’s shirt into a dress. This post is all about how to turn a men’s shirt into a dress. p.s. I’m really bad at taking photos as I work so I’ve included some diagrams to help illustrate everything I did.…

Things To Do in Banff In Summer
Banff is a small town in the Canadian Rocky Mountains, about an hour and a half west of Calgary, Alberta. When I was growing up we used to only ever go to the mountains for ski trips, so I only ever saw Banff in the winter. It wasn’t until I was older that I actually had a chance to visit in the summer. It is a beautiful place both times of the year but definitely a different experience in the Summer! If you are heading to Banff here are some of the top things to do in Banff in summer. Go for a Hike Since you’re in the mountains, you…

Visiting the Scottish Highlands
I’ve always wanted to visit the Scottish highlands. Seeing the Highland landscapes on tv or in movies makes me go “ah I want to go there someday”! Well now that I’m living so much closer I had to make sure I made it there. So when I had the opportunity to take a three day trip, I couldn’t say no. I was finished classes for the term so I decided it would be my break before getting into studying for my exams. Loch Lomond Our first stop after getting into the highlands was Loch Lomond. Loch Lomond is a beautiful loch (Scottish for lake) located within the Loch Lomond and…

The Best Spicy Pasta with Spinach and Mushrooms
This spicy pasta has a creamy tomato based sauce. The chilli flakes give a nice heat that you can adjust to your preferred spice level. Pasta is one of my favourite things to make as a uni student. Its both quick and easy to make and doesn’t cost a lot. However, I don’t have pasta every night of the week, so if I buy a jar of pasta sauce then it usually goes off before I can use it up. Making your own sauce means you can control how much you make, and trust me its a lot easier than you think! This pasta originally started as just a spicy…

Time Blocking for Students
Time blocking is the perfect scheduling method for students. It will help keep you organized and on top of everything you need to do. This post is all about how to start time blocking as a student. What is Time Blocking? Time blocking is a scheduling method where you set out specific blocks of time to get specific tasks done. Most guides on time blocking have you is blocking out every single part of your day – which sounds intense, right? I don’t actually do this, so this is an adapted method of time blocking that works for me and I think will work well for other students. My thoughts…

Halloween is Scary but Midterms are Scarier
In other words, Halloween is my favourite holiday but midterms made me cry. So it’s been a while since I posted, I had orignally planned on sharing another post once I submitted my applications but that didn’t happen so I thought instead I would talk about this past October AKA the most stressful month I’ve had in four years of university. October 1 – 6 October first Med school applications were due for Canadian schools. Now when I started my applications in the summer I had planned on finished before September so that when the deadline came alll I had to do would be review and submit, I KNEW that…
